Definaiton of Narcissism

Narcissism is a personality disorder characterized by excessive self-love, a need for admiration, and a lack of empathy towards others.

There are two main types of narcissism: grandiose narcissism and vulnerable narcissism. Grandiose narcissism is characterized by feelings of superiority, entitlement, and a desire for admiration. Vulnerable narcissism, on the other hand, is characterized by a sense of insecurity, low self-esteem, and hypersensitivity to criticism.

Treatment for Narcissism

There is no known cure for narcissism, but psychotherapy and counseling can help individuals with narcissistic traits to better manage their behavior and improve their relationships with others. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) are commonly used approaches in the treatment of narcissism. However, individuals with narcissistic personality disorder often have difficulty recognizing their behavior as problematic and may be resistant to treatment.
